Project description

The new Campofranco Primary Substation will be built on an area of approximately 6,500 square meters on the outskirts of Casteltermini, along State Road 189. In the initial phase, it will be connected to the nearby Campofranco railway station, before being permanently integrated into the national electricity grid thanks to the future “Racalmuto – Campofranco” high-voltage line, which is part of Terna’s development plan.

The plant, designed according to the latest e-distribution standards, will house two large transformers capable of converting high-voltage energy to medium voltage, so as to deliver electricity to users in the area safely and reliably. The medium-voltage section will be housed in two modern prefabricated containers containing the control and protection systems, connected to the operations center via remote control.

Around the cabin, there will be internal roads, fences, and a building for auxiliary services—with a remote control room, office, and changing room—as well as all the necessary provisions for any future expansions. This is a strategic intervention to ensure a more stable and efficient distribution of energy to the entire surrounding area.
